Printer Recommendations
Choosing the right printer depends on your event volume, budget, and desired setup speed. While Simple Booth works with various hardware, printers generally fall into two main categories.
Printer Types
Consumer Printers
"Consumer” printers are designed for general home or small office photo printing. These models typically come AirPrint-compatible out-of-the-box, making the initial setup very straightforward.
Pros: More affordable upfront cost and very easy to configure.
Cons: Slower printing speeds and higher long-term ink costs.
Consumer Printer Recommendations
Dye-Sublimation Printers
Dye-sublimation (dye-sub) printers are the industry standard for professionals. These are built for high-volume photo booth environments.
Pros: Much faster print speeds, professional-grade durability, and a lower cost-per-print.
Cons: Higher initial investment and a multi-step setup process.
Dye-sub printers require a wireless print server (such as a laptop running helper software or a dedicated hardware bridge) to connect with an iPad and the Simple Booth app.
