Connecting your DSLR
How to connect to and use your DSLR camera.
When a DSLR is connected, HALO uses it to capture photos and videos instead of the iPad’s built-in camera.
Steps To Connect
Plug the USB hub into the iPad.
Connect power to the pass-through port on the USB hub. The iPad should indicate it is charging.
Connect the camera to the USB hub using a USB cable.
Insert the dummy battery into the camera and connect it to power.
Insert a memory card into the camera.
Launch the HALO app to PreFlight Check. The camera will appear as a card in the Devices section.
Confirm a Successful Connection
After connecting to your camera, HALO automatically checks whether it’s ready to use. Within the PreFlight Check, the camera status indicator shows one of the following:
Green checkmark: Camera is ready to use.
Blue info icon: Camera is ready to use, but some settings could be improved.
Orange exclamation mark: Camera is ready to use, but certain settings need your attention.
Red exclamation mark: Camera has incompatible settings. HALO will fall back to the iPad camera.
Resolving Incompatible DSLR Settings
If HALO indicates that some settings are not optimal or incompatible, tap the camera card to open the Camera Manager.
The Camera Manager provides an overview of your camera status and lists any warnings, along with steps to resolve them.

Using Your DSLR
Launch your preset to Test or Booth Mode, and HALO will automatically connect to your DSLR.
If the DSLR’s settings become incompatible at any point, HALO will automatically fall back to the iPad camera to ensure participants can continue to use the booth.

Important Information
Memory and Storage Management
The memory card is used only for temporary storage. When a photo or video is captured, it is first saved to the camera’s memory card, then downloaded by the HALO app. Once downloaded, HALO automatically deletes the file from the camera to prevent the card from filling up.
Heat Management
For best performance, use the camera in a well-ventilated area and avoid direct sunlight.
While connected, the HALO app monitors camera temperature. If it reaches a critical level, HALO will automatically switch to the iPad camera to prevent overheating. After the camera cools down, you can reconnect it through the Camera Manager, which can be found in Mission Control.
